Hot Dog! A visit to Troy, NY
In my travels when working on the second edition of my book Backroads and byways of Upstate New York, I tried to visit unique places that are off the beaten trail. One of those places is Famous Lunch in Troy, NY, which is located north of the Albany area. They have been in business since 1932.
Famous Lunch is, well, famous for their "world famous hot dogs", specifically their 3 inch long mini hot dogs, which are made locally in Troy. Their daily special is four hot dogs and a beverage for $8.
While they do serve a variety of other foods, such as pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, omelets, hamburgers, and sandwiches, you really have to try the hot dogs!
Famous Lunch is located at 111 Congress Street in Troy. Open Monday-Saturday 7am-9pm.
